My 2022 went a lot differently than expected. While it came with a lot of trials that tested me, it also came with a bit of reprieve and clarity. You don’t see a lot of me here because I have taken a step back from my small pottery business and accepted a full time position as an illustrator for a mobile game company. ⁠

While this change was sudden, it was necessary; both for practical and mental reasons. The allure of choosing to do what you love for your financial stability is a difficult path to walk. We’re told to strive for the hustle and romanticize the dream of, one day, being our own boss. To have total creative control but overlook the very real burden that it can become. I’m not knocking the entrepreneurial life style. If you can, rock it. Own it. Live it. But it does take a toll, and it was important for me to take a hard look in the mirror, and be honest with myself with where I was at, and what I needed in the moment.⁠

I’m not hanging up my hat, but I am redefining my relationship to my craft, so it may take a little time before I’m posting regularly again. Thank you for your patience, your enthusiasm and love of my work, and your kind words of support. I am so grateful to all of you. ⁠

This was my first year participating in @potswapofficial and I was completely bowled over by the thoughtfulness and sensitivity of this gift by @wanderwomanceramics

Many of you know I lost my sweet cat of almost 15 years last year, and it was one of the hardest things and worst feelings I’ve ever gone through.

This beautiful soul, who received my name, combed through my insta, and made a mug in honour of my best buddy. I’m glad I didn’t do a live unboxing because I would have just been blubbering to you all for 25 minutes. Im still welling up.

Not only did she create the most amazing mug, but it was accompanied by a beautiful bowl, and treats! The caramel is especially delicious ❤️

Thank you, @wanderwomanceramics and @potswapofficial for making this happen, and bringing a little piece of my best friend back to me. I will treasure this forever.

Hey folks - I have some bummer news, I’m not going to be able to attend the @Kelownacomicon this weekend.. Recent unforeseen circumstances have come up, and as such I’ve needed to bow out of my table. The organizers have been incredibly gracious and understanding, and I thank them for their accommodation. The event is going to be amazing, and I encourage folks to go out and show them some love as this is their first year back since restrictions lifted! Here’s hoping I’ll be able to rep the nerdy house wares next year <3 Much love.⁠

I knew firing my own kiln and making my own glazes was going to be a lot of work. I was still not prepared for HOW much work that was. Mad props to all the kiln techs, and glaze wizards out there. You are truly invaluable. And a massive thank you to the folks who share their knowledge online. You simultaneously teach, while building confidence, and giving permission to try.

Also, treat yourself to some nice stationary. It makes taking notes much more fun.

Look at the grandma trying to figure how to make a reel! In all seriousness though, I was so happy to finally get back on the wheel today. Two solid weeks of recovering from my stupid pinky injury.. and as you can see, I still have a ways to go. This bandage barely helped, but I switched to a full glove afterwards and it worked much better!

So on top of being stoked for my upcoming markets, I am now PANICKED because I can’t throw with my bum finger (I lost a fight with an xacto knife, and my pinky now sports 5 lovely stitches).

Here’s some nat 20 mugs to make up for the nat 1 I rolled on my dex save.. hopefully I’ll be able to make more soon. This injury has definitely put me back over a week in production, and it really opened my eyes that being a solopreneur means little mistakes have huge consequences 😬.
